Sunday March 12, 2017: Set your clocks forward

All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey…

…but not for much longer! The Spring Equinox is right around the corner on Monday, March 20 — at 3:28 am PST to be exact.

Before that happens, the US springs forward in time by an hour. That happens for most states (except Arizona, Hawaii, and a few US territories) this Sunday, March 12 at midnight.

*Gasp* Already?! Didn’t 2017 just start? Where has the time gone?

For real. I’m asking myself the same darn questions.

Since we’re setting our clocks forward by an hour, we get an extra hour of daylight. Meaning, if you’re a 9 - 5-er, you’ll most likely see the sun when you’re done with work for the day.

Did you set intentions for 2017? Milestones, like daylights savings, are a good time to check in on your intentions. How are they going? Is there anything more you could be doing? Are you doing too much? Now is a good time to check in, without judgement or guilt, on how things are going.

An extra hour of sunlight is also a great time to establish a new habit. For me, I’ve noticed I’ve mainly been inside on my computer or in my yoga studio for training. Both of these things are great and I’m getting a lot done, but I’ve been craving some fresh air. I’m personally utilizing my extra hour to get outside. Be it a walk after work, or completing my training reading on the beach, park or outside a cafe, I’m going to find ways to satisfy my cravings to breathe in that fresh spring air, just in time for the sun to be back out here in Los Angeles.

What are you going to do with your extra hour? Take a picture, post to Instagram or Facebook and use hashtag #wholisticbelly to show me what you’re up to, or simply leave a comment below to start a conversation. I’d love to hear what your intention is over the next few weeks and encourage you on your journey.

Did this post make you say “spring means it’s almost summer, and I haven’t made any dent on my health goals!”? Have no fear, I’m here for you! And you’re not the only one. Send me a message and let’s set up a time to talk about your health goals and how I may be able to help you reach them.
